BIRATNAGAR: Speaker of Province 1 State Assembly Pradip Bhandari has rejected Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai’s proposal to postpone the meeting called for Sunday.
Chief Minister Rai had in the morning urged Speaker Bhandari to postpone the meeting by pasting a notice .
However, Speaker Bhandari refused to postpone the meeting saying that it would send a bad message to the general people.
The third meeting of the winter session of the State Assembly has been called for 2 pm Sunday.
The agenda for Sunday’s meeting is to table a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Rai.
A discussion was held between CM Rai and Speaker Bhandari at the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday morning.
During the discussion, Chief Minister Rai had urged Speaker Bhandari not to take the no-confidence motion forward in the current situation.
Speaker Bhandari, however, said that the meeting should not be postponed as the agenda to table the no-confidence motion was already set.
The State Assembly Secretariat is preparing to table a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister on Sunday.
