National Assembly meeting postponed due to UML obstruction

KATHMANDU: Monday’s National Assembly meeting has been postponed due to obstruction from the main opposition party CPN-UML lawmakers.

Due to UML protest, the meeting was adjourned without initiating discussion on the Monday’s agenda.

UML lawmakers stood up in protest immediately after the meeting started.

UML has been obstructing both the houses of the federal parliament since September 8 demanding action against the defecting lawmakers including Madhav Kumar Nepal, Ram Kumari Jhankri and Met Mani Chaudhary. They have been accusing Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and the Election Commission of playing catalyst in UML split.

National Assembly Chairman Ganesh Timalsina adjourned the meeting after the UML lawmakers refused to abide his request to take their seat.
