Shahi finishes first in AIBA Men’s Boxing Championship qualification



KATHMANDU: Sanil Shahi has come first in a match under the AIBA Men’s Boxing Championship qualification for the World Championships.

Shahi from Lalitpur beat Dawa Tshering Lama from Boxmandu 5-0 in the 67 kg category. Shahi had won a gold medal in the 13th South Asian Games.

The match was organized at the International Sports Complex in Satdobato by the Nepal Boxing Association. A total of 32 boxers participated in the game.

Similarly, other participants who finished first in different categories included Rabin Thapa from HTO (51 kg), Puran Rai from Armed Police Force (57 kg), Bhupendra Thapa Magar from Nepal Police (63 kg) and Bikas Lama from APF (71 kg).

The 2021 AIBA Men’s World Championships is scheduled to take place in Belgrade, Serbia from October 25 to November 6.
