NC likely to sort out active membership row by today

KATHMANDU: The long-overdue dispute seen in the active membership of the ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has inched closer to consensus.

The active membership row of the 13 constituencies including Bara and Saptari is being resolved soon, said the leaders involved in the active membership dispute resolution committee.

A central working committee (CWC) meeting appointed former General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Central Member Dr Minendra Rijal and Ramesh Lekhak.

The three-member committee is making preparations to submit a report to Party Chair and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday, said a member of the committee.

“It will not take a long time. We will muster consensus by probably today (Friday) and submit by Saturday,” said the member, adding, “We are at the final stage to resolve the issue.”

The active membership dispute resolution committee held a meeting on Thursday to resolve the issue.
