CPN-UML central committee meeting underway

KATHMANDU: The ongoing meeting of the Central Committee of the main opposition party CPN-UML has dwelt on issues relating to implementation of the taskforce’s 10-point agreement and the Supreme Court’s July 12 mandamus order.

The apex court had ordered restoration of House of Representatives (HoR) and appointment of Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba to the post of prime minister.

The meeting convened at the office of Tulsilal Memorial Academy at Chyasal of Lalitpur Tuesday is scheduled to evaluate the achievements of UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli led government and will also set agenda for the party for coming days, according to the UML parliamentarian party Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai. Furthermore, Bhattarai shared that the attendants of the meeting will also touch on party strengthening bid and party purification process among others.

Earlier on Monday, the party had decided to seek 24-hour clarification from the 22 UML parliamentarians who had cast vote to NC President Deuba while the latter had sought vote of confidence in the parliament. Following the apex court order, the parliamentarians from the disgruntled faction of the UML, including its senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, decided to go against the party’s office decision not to give Deuba vote of confidence to secure his premiership.
