Husband and wife die of COVID-19 in Morang



KATHMANDU:  A couple has died from COVID -19 pandemic in Morang district.

The deceased are 78-year-old husband and his wife aged 68 at Laxmi Marga in Belbari Municipality in the district, said District Health Office, Morang.

According to Bibek Mishra, a local, the wife succumbed to the deadly virus on Sunday – three days after her septuagenarian husband died.

A total of six members in the family had been infected with the virus, of which, four of them have recovered.

According to the ward office, five people have died of coronavirus infection in the ward in the past three weeks.

The ward was sealed for a week after the number of infection cases in the ward surged, according to ward chairperson Rajan Pokharel.

According to him, 50 people were infected in the ward before the ban was lifted. Since then, the ward has been sealed after more than 200 infection cases were confirmed.
