Swollen Mahakali: Eight houses inundated; dam of an under-construction bridge washed away



DHANGADHI: The flood in the Mahakali River has washed away the dam of the motorable bridge that was under construction in Kanchanpur.

A 90-meter temporary dam of a concrete bridge which was under construction on the Mahakali River at Odali in Bhimdatta Municipality-12 was washed away by the flood last night, according to District Police Office, Kanchanpur.

The river has inundated eight houses in Kutiyakbar, Shanti Toll and Baidiphanta of Dodhara Chandani Municipality-10.

However, no loss of life has been reported. The displaced people are staying at their relatives’ houses.

The water level in the Mahakali River has been rising due to the continuous rains in the hilly district.

The water flow is Mahakali River was measured to be at 267,000 cusecs on Sunday.

This is the highest measured this monsoon so far.

The water level in the river was around 247,000 cusecs on Saturday afternoon.
