Cabinet recommends President to convene Federal Parliament special session on May 23



KATHMANDU: A meeting of the Cabinet on Thursday has recommended President Bidya Devi Bhandari to convene a session of the Federal Parliament on May 23.

A cabinet meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar decided to recommend the convening of the session, according to a minister.

The Constitution of Nepal stipulates that a budget session has to be convened on the 15th of Nepali month Jestha.

Likewise, the cabinet has also decided to “open up options” to move ahead with the process of forming a government as per the constitutional provision of Article 76 (5).

The President had appointed KP Oli as the Prime Minister under Article 76 (3) of the Constitution last week.
