Be assured, election will be held on the stipulated dates: NCP leader Nembang

MCC proposal was not discussed in the parliament because of some elements

BIRATNAGAR: Leader of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Subash Chandra Nembang has said Nepali people are in favor of election.

“People have already endorsed the government’s decision to hold the election,” Nembang said while addressing a mass movement organized by the party in Biratnagar on Saturday.

Saying that certain elements have been trying to drag the President into controversy, Nembang said some leaders of the dissident faction have been hell-bent on creating a negative image of the institution.

Prime Minister KP Oli, being a PM with a majority in the parliament, was not allowed to work by some insiders of the party. “They (dissident faction) obstructed the work of the Prime Minister,” he said, adding, “Therefore, PM Oli was compelled to go for people’s fresh mandate.”

He defended Prime Minister Oli’s dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR) saying a majority Prime Minister can go for election by dissolving the Parliament when he is not allowed to work effectively.

He also criticized “some former Prime Ministers for standing near the Supreme Court to try to intimidate the apex body”.

Nembang came down heavily on the former Prime Ministers for making cheap and intimidating comments against SC.

He said that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) proposal was tabled at the Parliament Secretariat by a two-third majority government. “However, the proposal was not brought for discussion to the House because the dissident faction did not want it to be discussed and endorsed,” he said.
