Vote count for 35 NC open central members underway

Counting of 2,993 votes, out of approximate total of 4,700, has completed as of 3 pm today



KATHMANDU: The counting of votes for the election of 35 Nepali Congress’ (NC) open central members is underway at party office in Sanepa.

The counting that started on Saturday is underway Sunday as well.

The counting of 2,993 votes, out of an approximate total of 4,700 votes, has completed as of 3 pm today. As many as 99 candidates vied for 35 seats of central members (open category).

Outgoing NC General Secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala has received the highest – 2,442 votes – so far. Similarly, NP Saud has got 1,896 votes.

According to the latest tally, most candidates to fall under 35 seats are from NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba panel. Leaders, including Jit Jung Basnet, Rajib Dhungana, Uday Shumsher Rana, Guru Baral and Kundan Raj Kafle are ahead in the vote count from Deuba panel.
