Maoist Chair Prachanda rules out immediate expansion of cabinet

KATHMANDU: CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has ruled out the possibility of cabinet expansion immediately.

Prachanda said that the cabinet would be expanded only after the registration of the new party – the CPN-UML (Samajwadi) as a new political situation has unfolded since Wednesday.

Madhav Kumar Nepal had on Wednesday filed an application with the Election Commission for registering the CPN-UML (Samajwadi).

Speaking at an interaction in the capital on Thursday, Prachanda said they had a wide discussion on the current political developments and the cabinet expansion with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba this morning.

He also said even though the cabinet expansion has to be done immediately, the unfolding circumstances have delayed the process.

Meanwhile, he also defended Prime Minister’s move to bring the ordinance saying that it has come in a changed political context.
