NC leader Gurung slams govt over increasing deposits of Nepalis in Swiss Bank

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) central committee member Dhanraj Gurung has made a sarcastic comment about the increase of Nepalis’ deposits in Swiss banks and has criticized the government for promoting corruption.

Sharing his response to the latest report showing the increase of the Nepalis’ deposit in Swiss banks, NC leader Gurung, on his Saturday’s Twitter message, shared the statistics that the reserves of Nepalis in Swiss banks have increased from Rs 22 billion to Rs 86 billion in a year, at a time when the country is struggling to feed the poor.

Gurung pointed out that the increase of the deposits in the names of Nepalis in Swiss banks, in a way, prove dozens of corruption scandals such as security printing press and wide-body were true and the corruption prevails under the protection of the government leadership itself.

“It is difficult to feed the poor, but the black money reserves of Nepalis in Swiss banks have increased by Rs 46 billion in one year,” he wrote, adding, “However, when you look at dozens of scandals like Omni, Security Printing Press, wide-body procurement, you (the government) should not cover up this issue.”

Referring to the corrupt politicians as ‘wolves’, Gurung regretted that the corrupts will not spare the resources of the country.
