Cong-led govt cannot be formed: President Deuba

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that it was difficult at the moment to form a NC-led government.

Speaking at a function held to mark the 52nd founding day of Nepal Students Union here Monday, he said the Maoist-Center had not withdrawn its support to the government and NC did not hold a majority to form a government.

On a different note, he said that the party’s general convention will be held on time and expressed the commitment to immediately give full shape to the NSU central executive committee.

NC general secretary Shashank Koirala suggested the party chair to take the initiative to form and lead the next government. Squabble inside the ruling party has troubled the Nepali people, and hence it’s time for the NC to take the leadership, Koirala added.

NSU General Secretary Baldev Timilsena demanded that the NSU central executive committee be given full shape.
