Special session of Gandaki Province Assembly called for April 26

KATHMANDU: Chief of Gandaki Province Amik Sherchan has called the special session of Province Assembly (PA) at 3 pm for April 26.

Province Chief Sherchan Monday wrote to provincial Parliament Secretariat to summon the special session on the basis of an application submitted last week by opposition parties regarding the same.

Last week, the opposition parties Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) registered a no-confidence motion against Gandaki Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung at the provincial Parliament Secretariat.

However, Chief CM Gurung had ended the session of the Province Assembly (PA) after being tipped off that opposition parties were filing a no confidence motion against him.

According to constitutional provision, Chief of the province should convene a special PA session within 15 days if at least one-fourth of the total members of parliament demand it. As many 28 PA members had requested the Province Chief to summon the special PA session.

The agenda of the special session will be the no-confidence motion filed against CM Gurung.
