KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Khanal faction of ruling CPN-UML has said it will not take part in the Central Committee (CC) meeting called by party Chairman and Prime Minister (PM) KP Oli for March 20.
The disgruntled faction which concluded a two-day national cadres’ orientation program held at Heritage Garden in Lalitpur on Thursday decided not to attend the CC meeting until the Oli faction rectifies the decision taken on March 12.
“We stand firm in our stance,” said a Standing Committee (SC) member of the faction, adding, “We concluded that we will not participate in any meetings called by party Chairman Oli unless he puts right his March 12 decision.”
Prime Minister Oli on March 12 called a CC meeting and nominated 23 former CPN (Maoist Center) leaders including Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa to the central committee of the CPN-UML, taking away responsibilities of some UML leaders.
Already aggravated, the intra-party feud has furthered worsened with the March 12 decision taken by Prime Minister Oli.
A leader of the Nepal-Khanal faction has said they would, however, rethink if the CC meeting will be held at the central party office in Dhumbarahi.
Leaders of the disgruntled faction abstained from the Parliamentary Party (PP) meeting called by Oli yesterday.
