Prachanda-Nepal faction “prepared” to face any adverse situation to protect democracy

KATHMANDU: An emergency meeting Central Committee of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided to face all circumstances to safeguard democracy and the constitution.

A meeting of the faction’s central committee meeting held at Peris Danda in Koteswor on Friday said that the faction would to prepared to undergo any political adversities and circumstances in the coming days.

Party sources said that they would be ready to go to any extent and launch struggles if the government launched a crackdown on them.

The faction has been protesting the Prime Minister KP Oli’s “unconstitutional and undemocratic” move of dissolving the House of Representatives on December 20.

Sources said citizenship certificates of as many as 290 central members have been collected so far.

The faction is, meanwhile, preparing to visit the Election Commission (EC) with Central Committee members.

It should be noted that the leadership of the faction had instructed all central members to assemble at the party office with citizenships on Friday.

Meanwhile, the dissenting faction has ruled out the possibility of mid-term elections without resolving the disputes in the party.

The EC is yet to give authenticity to the party and its election symbol.

Earlier, the EC had recognized the 441-member central committee of the party. The Prachanda-Nepal faction has a majority of central members.
