Prachanda-Nepal faction Central Committee meeting underway

KATHMANDU: An emergency Central Committee meeting of the Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has started at the party’s office in Peris Danda.

The faction is preparing to visit the Election Commission (EC) with Central Committee members after the meeting.

All central members of the faction were instructed to assemble at the party office with citizenships.

Sources said that the central members will go to the commission to put pressure on the EC to decide the dispute surrounding the NCP’s election symbol and its authenticity.

The dissenting faction has ruled out the possibility of mid-term elections without resolving the disputes in the party.

The EC is yet to give authenticity to the party and its election symbol.

Earlier, the EC had recognized the 441-member central committee of the party. The Prachanda-Nepal faction has a majority of central members.
