Prachanda-Nepal faction preparing to visit EC with central members for claiming authenticity

KATHMANDU: The Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) is preparing to visit the Election Commission (EC) with Central Committee members.

All central members of the faction have been instructed to assemble at the party office at Peris Danda on Friday noon, a leader said without elaborating.

Sources said that the central members will go to the commission to put pressure on the EC to decide the dispute surrounding the NCP’s election symbol and its authenticity.

The dissenting faction has ruled out the possibility of mid-term elections without resolving the disputes in the party.

The EC is yet to give authenticity to the party and its election symbol. Earlier, the EC had recognized the 441-member central committee of the party. The Prachanda-Nepal faction has a majority of central members.
