PM Oli for effective role of media for mid-term elections



KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has said that the significance of the National News Agency has further increased as an essential source of news for the media, at a time when various platforms made possible with the development of internet technology are being misused instead of utilizing it in the right way and for the cause of humans.

In a message of best wishes on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the RSS today, Prime Minister Oli has urged the RSS to provide integrated service including investigative stories in a competitive, fact-based, reliable manner, with accountability towards the state and people at large, while lauding the role played by the RSS through the dissemination of various news products.

Stating that the media sector of Nepal has also experienced unprecedented diversity with the accelerated development of the IT sector, the Prime Minister said however the widening of the horizon of the media sector has also brought about new challenges with the entry of many anomalies with it.

He has also emphasized the important role of the media sector in realizing the national aspiration of ‘Prosperous Nepal, Happy Nepalis’ forwarded by the government to bring development and prosperity to the country. Furthermore, the independent and impartial role of the media was essential as the government and the agencies concerned to prepare for the forthcoming elections to the House of Representatives.
