On-duty doctor at TUTH attacked after patient’s death

KATHMANDU: A doctor working at COVID ICU of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) in Maharajgunj has been beaten up.

Dr. Sabin Bhandari was attacked by relatives of an 80-year-old patient who died while undergoing treatment.

Kathmandu Police Chief SSP Ashok Singh said that police have arrested a person involved in the attack.

Although the hospital claimed that the patient had died of coronavirus, the relatives did not accept that.

The body of the deceased has been kept at the hospital. The patient from Gulmi was brought to Kathmandu from Butwal for further treatment three days ago but died this morning while undergoing treatment.

Health workers and staff of the hospital have demanded strict action against the culprits.
