Three members of a family die after falling in electric trap in Bardiya



BARDIYA: Three members of a family have died of electric shock at Godana village in Pari Thakur Baba municipality-3 in the district.

The deceased have been identified as Bal Krishna Tharu, 32, his wife Sunita, 29, and Bal Krishna’s sister-in-law Belmati, 43.

According to District Police Office, Bardiya, they died after they fell in an electric trap set to chase away a wild boar.

Meanwhile, police have arrested 82-year-old Raj Bahadur Shahi, a neighbor of the deceased, on the charge of releasing electricity in the paddy field.

Police Inspector Kabiraj Rokay of Bhurigaun Area Police Office said that further investigation into the incident is underway.

Earlier, two wild elephants and a young man were killed in the district in an electric trap set up to drive away wild elephants, wild boars and other wild animals after they started damaging the paddy fields.
