Govt serious towards further capacitating APF: Minister Khand



KATHMANDU: Minister of Home Affairs Bal Krishna Khand assured about the seriousness of the government to enrich the Armed Police Force (APF) with additional human and other resources.

Inspecting the APF’s headquarters at the Halchwok, Kathmandu on Wednesday, Minister Khand spoke of the need to add more police posts, enhance capacity for the police personnel, and upgrading the existing police posts in the over 37,000 strong personnel.

The APF was established nearly two decades ago to serve the country by maintaining peace and safeguarding the fundamental rights of all the citizens of the country.

Reiterating the government’s serious concern over the APF to further capacitate it, the Minister assured that the APF was not alone while discharging its duties in various sectors.

He said that the government was serious about the COVID-19 response since the risk of COVID-19 was still there.

Furthermore, the Home Minister also clarified that the government was with the public to protect their lives. He opined that all the security agencies should take safeguarding the people’s lives into serious account.

The Minister also urged one and all to be cautious since, he said, there was the risk of the third wave of COVID-19.

Speaking highly of the APF’s dutifulness in whatsoever circumstances and situations, Khand lauded APF’s role in minimizing revenue leakages, combating illegal activities such as smuggling of narcotic drugs among others.

Khand commended the APF’s role in curbing violent activities and protecting the national pride projects. Similarly, the secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs Tek Narayan Pandey praised the contribution of the APF in maintaining peace, protecting borders, responding to COVID-19 among others.

Likewise, APF’s Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shailendra Khanal shared that the APF organization was moving ahead implementing zero-tolerance against gender-based violence and violation of human rights and corruption. RSS
