KATHMANDU: The hearing on the petition against the revocation of the Land Issue Resolving Commission (LIRC) has been postponed to August 30.
Earlier, the hearing on the LIRC related petition was scheduled for August 17.
A bench of Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada at Supreme Court (SC) had passed a short-term interim order on August 9 after hearing in separate writ petitions filed by advocate Prabesh KC and chairperson of the Commission Devi Gyawali.
According to SC sources, the hearing was postponed at the request of the government attorneys, the defendant in the case.
SC had also ordered LIRC to submit the reasons for its dissolution.
At the same time, both the parties were called for discussion on August 17 to decide whether to continue the interim order or not.
“In view of the sensitivity and seriousness of this issue, it is necessary to hold a discussion in the presence of both the parties. A short-term interim order has been issued to maintain the status quo without any change or transformation,” the SC had said.
The government had decided to dissolve the land commission August 3.
Advocate KC had filed petition against the government decision on August 6.
