Six arrested with brown sugar



JHAPA: Police have arrested six people in possession of brown sugar weighing 27.7 grams from Birtamod Municipality in Jhapa district.

Different police teams arrested them from different areas of the municipality.

A team from the Area Police Office, Anarmani held two women identified as Devi Tamang of Birtamod-1 and Sita Khatiwada of Birtamod-5 along with 4.4 grams of brown sugar.

The police also seized a digital weighing machine and two sets of mobile phones, said Rakesh Thapa, spokesperson for the district police office, Jhapa.

Similarly, four others were arrested in possession of 23.3 grams of brown sugar from Birtamod-5. The arrestees have been identified as Ratan Rajbamshi and Suraj Chaudhary, both of Birtamod-5, Manoj Chaudhary of Arjundhara-5, and Suman Tamang of Birtamod-5.

The police also confiscated a motorcycle (Me 2 Pa 8686) from them. Investigations were underway, said the police.
Likewise, two were arrested in illegal possession of 900 strips of nitravet tablets from Golbazaar Municipality-3 in Siraha district.

The arrestees have been identified as Pramod Kumar Yadav of Bariyarpatti Rural Municipality-3 and Dhanjit Yadav of Sukhipur Municipality-10.

The police also confiscated one on-test pulsar motorcycle, two sets of mobile phones, and Rs 3,346 from them.
