Gandaki CM Pokharel asks for vote of confidence



POKHARA: Chief Minister Krishna Chandra Pokharel of Gandaki Pradesh has urged the provincial lawmakers to give him a vote of confidence.

Speaker Netra Nath Adhikari allowed Chief Minister Pokharel to table the confidence motion as soon as the provincial meeting started in line with Article 168 (6) of the Constitution.

Tabling the confidence motion in the provincial assembly meeting, CM Pokharel recalled that his government has introduced the policy and programs and brought the budget for the fiscal year 2021/22 since appointment as the Chief Minister one week ago.

With Rastriya Janamorcha lawmaker Krishna Thapa’s dismissal from the post, the province assembly has now 59 members now.

Chief Minister Pokharel needs 30 votes to get a vote of confidence.

There are 15 MPs from the ruling Nepali Congress, 11 from the CPN-Maoist Center, 27 from the CPN-UML, two from the Rastriya Janamorcha, two from the Janata Samajwadi Party and one independent lawmaker Deepak Manange alias Rajeev Gurung.
