Holding CWC meeting today

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress which is bracing to hold the 14th General Convention has extended a one-week-long period for those who missed the deadline to renew their active memberships of the party.

Sending a letter to all the 77 districts, the NC’s Central Active Membership Investigation Committee has directed the district party offices to renew and send the details of the active memberships by June 23.

June 23 deadline has been given for the renewal of the active memberships since many NC cadres have missed the deadline to renew their active memberships, informed Jeevan Pariyar, a member of the Central Active Membership Investigation Committee.

“Around 380,078 active members have got their memberships renewed this time. The deadline has been extended to make sure that a large number of active members will not be deprived of renewing their memberships,” said Pariyar.

The party will not renew their active memberships only to those who pose themselves as rebel candidates, become proposers or seconders for the rebel candidate, or face disciplinary action or quit the party as per the provision of the party.

The NC has asked those who have missed the previous deadline have to renew their active memberships by June  23.

The NC is holding its 14th General Convention by August 1-4. The Central Committee meeting of the party is taking place at 1 pm today.

Active members elect representatives for district and regional conventions. These representatives will elect the representatives for the general convention of the party.

The number of active memberships during the 13th General Convention was 470,000. Of them, only 380,078 have renewed their active memberships this time.
