India witnesses sharp decline in both COVID-19 infection cases and deaths



NEW DELHI: Southern neighbor India has witnessed a sharp decline in the number of COVID-19 infection cases and deaths, of late.

India recorded 62,409 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, taking the caseload to 29,761,964.

Earlier, the daily infection cases had reached up to 400,000.

Currently, 805,422 are undergoing treatment at various isolation centers and hospitals. Meanwhile, 28,573,021 have returned home after treatment.

Similarly, the number of deaths from the coronavirus in India has crossed the 383,500-mark.

With 1,310 deaths in a single day, the number of deaths from the virus has reached 383,521, according to the latest figures collated by the Worldometers.

Broken out in Wuhan City of China in December 2019, the coronavirus has killed 3,857,430 and infected 178,182,493 globally until the filing of this news.
