Home Minister Badal seeks UML leader Nepal support for NA election

KATHMANDU: Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa “Badal” has sought the support of senior CPN-UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal for the National Assembly election.

Badal had reached leader Nepal’s residence in Koteshwor on Tuesday.

UML senior leader Nepal, however, did not assure of support, a party insider said.

The source said that senior leader Nepal did not give a word to “Badal” since he was not the candidate of the Nepal faction.

The by-elections to the National Assembly are being held on May 20.

Meanwhile, the Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Center, and the Janata Samajbadi Party have fielded Khimlal Devkota against Badal.

UML General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel has already issued a whip to the people’s representatives of Bagmati Pradesh on behalf of the party to cast their votes for Badal.

The Maoist Center, meanwhile, has issued a whip to vote for Devkota.
