BIRATNAGAR: The Province 1 government is preparing to end the seventh winter session as the opposition parties continue to obstruct the proceedings.
The government is likely to end the session after Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai addresses the session on Sunday afternoon, Hikmat Kumar Karki, Minister for Internal Affairs and Law.
The eighth meeting of the ongoing Seventh winter session has been called for 1 pm today, he said.
Opposition parties, however, have said they would disrupt today’s session as well.
Leader of the CPN (Maoist Center) Parliamentary Party Indra Bahadur Angbo said that the meeting would be disrupted as the ruling party showed no interest in addressing their demands.
Karki, however, said that the government would end the session even if the opposition parties obstructed today’s meeting.
Lawmakers of the Nepali Congress, Maoist Center, and the Janata Samajwadi Party have been obstructing the sessions demanding smooth implementation of the approved programs for the current year, the continuation of the development project, and the continuation of the work of the multi-year development project.
Meanwhile, an all-party meeting called by Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai last Monday had ended inconclusively.
