DoT grants permission to 71 teams to climb Nepal’s mountains this spring



KATHMANDU: The Department of Tourism (DoT) has issued expedition permits to as many as 71 groups to climb Nepal’s mountains, including Mt Everest in the spring season.

The DoT have given permits to 626 climbers of 71 mountaineering expedition teams so far.

Among them, 338 mountaineers — 266 males and 84 females — of 36 teams have received the permit to climb the Mt Everest, according to the Department.

Likewise, as many as 11 expedition teams have obtained the permission to climb Mt Lhotse and four teams each for climbing Mt Annapurna and Mt Dhawalagiri respectively, it said.

Similarly, three groups have obtained that permission to climb Mt Nuptse and one team each for climbing Mt Ama Dablam and Mt Makalu this spring.
