NC should stake claim for govt formation, lead until election: Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader Gagan Thapa said the NC should stake claim for government formation and lead until the general election.

Addressing an assembly of the party’s youth wing Nepal Tarun Dal in Syangja Thursday, Thapa said the incumbent government has driven the nation into crisis instead of leading it towards prosperity. “Therefore, the NC should now rescue the country by taking charge of the government.”

Stating that history bore witness to the responsible actions taken by his party whenever the country faced crisis, the leader said, “Now too, the NC should take responsibility to provide a way out to the political turmoil in the country.”

“The people had placed their confidence on the CPN-UML and elected them for five years in hopes of stability and development, but the current government could not meet the people’s aspirations,” Thapa said.

“The ruling party took to the path of destruction rather than development,” he added.

He was of the view that the NC-led government was the need of the hour to curb further decline and to bring the country on track to prosperity.
