CPN-UML Parliamentary Party meet begins at Baluwatar

Nepal-Khanal faction abstains from attending

KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Party meeting of the ruling CPN-UML has started at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar.

The meeting is discussing the ongoing dispute in the ruling party, a leader said.

Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai said all lawmakers of the party including the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction were notified about the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction did not, however, participate in the meeting despite receiving the invitation.

The faction, which is holding a national conclave in Sanepa, said it would not be able to attend the meeting because of its pre-scheduled engagement.

The PP meeting has been called at a time when the disgruntled faction’s two-day national conclave is underway.

The faction had earlier decided to hold the gathering against what they said “KP Oli’s arbitrary” attitude in running the party.

Likewise, the central committee of the faction is scheduled to submit a concept paper on the current interparty dispute and its possible ways out in the gathering.
