NC leader Ashok Koirala passes away



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress leader and former founder member of Nepal Student Union (NSU) Ashok Koirala has passed away. He was 77.

Pneumonia-ridden Koirala passed away in the course of treatment at Biratnagar Neuro Hospital on Wednesday night, said his family sources.

Koirala had become a member of the Constituent Assembly and National Assembly.

Koirala, who had served as the NC’s Morang District President for 19 years,  had been a mahasamiti member of the NC until recently.

He is survived by a son and a daughter.

His last rites are being performed at Singhiya Crematorium in his home district Morang today itself, according to his family sources.
