Bhagarathi murder case: Family members deny receiving body demanding further probe

KATHMANDU: Family members of Bhagarathi Bhatta have said that they won’t receive the dead body unless they are assured that a teenager arrested by police for the murder is a real culprit.

According to Bhagarathi’s uncle Shivaraj Bhatta, Dinesh Bhatta nabbed by police is Bhagarathi’s brother by relation.

“We can’t believe that a single person can execute such a big crime. Police made only one accused public. We have decided not to receive the body unless we are assured,” he said.

He said the family demanded that the police conduct a thorough investigation.

Police on Wednesday made public the accused involved in the murder of 17-year-old Bhatta of Baitadi Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7.

Far-Western Provincial Police Chief, Uttamraj Subedi told a press conference at the District Police Office, Baitadi that the police had arrested Dinesh on the account of a person considered to be an eye-witness who had seen the accused in the area, location tracking, and confessional statement.

Bhatta, a class 11 student of Sanatan Secondary School in Bhagarathi, was made public by the police after his involvement in the case was confirmed.
