NDU holds protest to draw lawmakers’ attention to increasing Chinese influences

KATHMANDU: Nepal Democrat Union (NDU) has organized a protest to draw the attention of lawmakers against China’s negative influences and interventions in internal affairs of the country, in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, Friday.

Issuing a press statement Friday, the Union condemned “authoritarian Communist China’s all-out interference in Nepal that are aimed at undermining Nepal’s identity, communal harmony and the country’s ties with foreign nations.”

Stating that thousands of hectares of Nepali land was encroached by China in various bordering districts, including Humla, Mustang, Gorkha, Rasuwa and Dolakha, among others, the Union alleged that “hoisting of Chinese flag in Bhairahawa-based airport last month was meant to signify that Nepal was its subordinate nation.”

“China through its intelligence wing ‘Ministry of State Security’ (MSS) has been disseminating propaganda and misinformation to attack on Nepal’s sovereignty, obstruct the passage of United States grant Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) in Nepal at any cost and sever Nepal’s ties with democracies in the world, including the US,” the statement read.

“For the purpose, the MSS is splurging Chinese currency Renminbi (RMB) to buy out local politicians, people and professionals affiliated to various sections,” the statement added.

Nepal Democrat Union said that discord was being promoted among political parties and cadres leading to social conflicts and split of parties under the guise of MCC. “It is understood plans are afoot to carry out massive sabotage, violence, and bloodshed in the country in the near future,” the Union added.

The Union pointed out that MSS official Ling alias Oscar Ning (who holds two passports PE 0350392, PE 17327 79) is running covert operations by stationing in Kathmandu to further Chinese agenda.

The statement warned, “If Communist China’s nefarious plans to cripple and weaken Nepal are not foiled in time then eventually the country will become a Chinese subordinate.”

The NDU urged parliamentarians to free the country from such “naked and shameless” Chinese intentions, influence and interventions by taking immediate, clear, decisive and decisive steps.

“Such interference from Communist China is not tolerable to freedom-loving Nepalis. The entire democratic world is with Nepal and the Nepali people. The Nepal Democratic Union, united with the world democratic movement, is always ready to lead the sentiments, steps and struggle of the Nepali people against communist totalitarianism.”
