UML’s Nepal faction blames govt for lax disaster response plan

KATHMANDU: The Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction of the UML has blamed the government for not working prudently to address monsoon-induced disasters in the country.

A meeting of Standing Committee (SC) members, close to leader Nepal, Thursday lamented the lack of adequate preparation, on part of the government, to address the annually recurring monsoon-induced disasters such as floods, landslides and inundation in the country. They have demanded a change in the government’s working style and attitude towards disaster response.

The virtual meeting was attended by 14 SC members of the Nepal faction. They also issued a statement after the meeting.
