To resume international flights to Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Japan

KATHMANDU: The government is making preparations to impose a ‘smart lockdown’ from the third week of June.

A meeting of the COVID-19 Directors’ Committee chaired by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday evening decided to clamp a ‘smart lockdown’ with some slight modifications in the ongoing prohibitory order.

The smart lockdown is aimed at easing the production and supplies of essential goods while controlling the cases of COVID-19.

The ongoing prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley is expiring on June 21.

The meeting decided to open some sectors with strict health protocols in the Valley while continuing the prohibitory order, said the Prime Minister’s secretariat.

The meeting also decided to resume international flights to foreign countries including Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Japan.
