UML Karnali takes action against four ‘floor-crossing’ lawmakers

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Karnali Province Committee has expelled four provincial lawmakers, who crossed floor to support Chief Minister Mahendra Shahi Friday in the province.

A sitting of UML Karnali Province Committee Saturday decided to expel lawmakers Nanda Singh Buda, Amar Bahadur Thapa and Kurmraj Shahi from the party and also revoke their party membership with effect from Friday itself.

Another lawmaker Prakash Jwala is also expelled but the committee, citing its jurisdiction, could not revoke Jwala’s party membership as he is the member of UML national convention organizing committee. Therefore it has recommended party center to take further action against Jwala.

The four lawmakers have faced the music for breaching the instruction of UML whip in Karnali Provincial Assembly.

The four lawmakers are close to senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhala Nath Khanal faction of UML.
