Nepal-Khanal camp not to attend UML PP meet due to pre-engagement

KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Khanal caucus of the CPN-UML has said it will not be able to attend the UML Parliamentary Party (PP) meet called for Thursday.

UML Chair and Prime Minister KP Oli Wednesday called a PP meet at 11 am Thursday at the PM’s official residence to discuss the intra-party dispute and contemporary political scenario, among other issues.

Leaders of the Nepal-Khanal caucus have acknowledged they received an SMS regarding the PP meet but said they would not be able to go due to their pre-engagement.

UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai, close to Nepal-Khanal camp, said, “We won’t be able to attend as the party chair is well aware of the ongoing national gathering.”

Bhattarai added they had conveyed the same to PM Oli.

Bhattarai clarified attending the PP meet was not a problem at all if they weren’t busy with the conclave on Thursday. He was positive about attending the PP meeting in the future.

Bhattarai remarked that the PP meet could have been called for Friday before the House of Representatives (HoR) resumed the same day. The HoR is scheduled to meet on March 19 at 1 pm.
