UML calls Parliamentary Party meet on Thursday

KATHMANDU: The ruling CPN-UML has called a meeting of the Parliamentary Party (PP) on Thursday.

The meeting will be held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar at 11 am.

Chief Whip Bishal Bhattarai said all lawmakers of the party including the Madhav Kumar Nepal-led faction have been instructed to attend the meeting.

The meeting will discuss the ongoing dispute in the party, among other issues, Bhattarai said.

Meanwhile, the Madhav Kumar Nepal faction has said it would not participate in the meeting convened by Prime Minister KP Oli.

The meeting has been called at a time when the disgruntled faction led by Madhav Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal is holding a two-day national conclave in Sanepa from Wednesday.

The faction had earlier decided to hold the gathering against what they said “KP Oli’s arbitrary” attitude in running the party.

Likewise, the central committee of the faction is scheduled to submit a concept paper on the current interparty dispute and its possible ways out in the gathering.
