Doctors’ consultation fee increases from Wednesday

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) and the Association of Private Health Institutions Nepal (AFIN) have increased consultation fee of the doctors from Wednesday.

Issuing a joint statement, the NMA and the AFIN said that they have increased the doctors’ fees for consultation and examination.

The Ministry of Health and Population had earlier signed an agreement with the Joint Struggle Committee of Trade Unions and Professional Associations working in the health sector on January 17.

The agreement had decided to implement the doctors’ consultation fee within 30 days.

However, due to non-implementation, the association and the AFIN held a meeting on Tuesday and fixed the new consultation fee on the basis of the fee recommended by the Inflation and Fees Advisory Committee of Nepal Rastra Bank.

The fee for MBBS doctors with five years of experience is Rs 370 and for doctors with more than five years of experience is Rs 450.

Similarly, a doctor with 10 years of experience as an MD has fixed Rs 825 as consultation and examination fee.
