Vote count for general secretaries begins

KATHMANDU: The vote count for general secretaries under the 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress has started.

According to the central election committee of the Nepali Congress, the vote count started from 10 am, even though it had, earlier, said that it would begin from 8 am.

The counting is taking place in three places. The committee has stated that the results will be made public in about four hours.

Six candidates are in the fray for the two posts of general secretaries.

Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat and Pradip Paudel are contesting the election for the post of general secretaries from Sher Bahadur Deuba panel and Gagan Thapa and Dr Minendra Rijal are in the fray for the post from Dr Shekhar Koirala panel.

Similarly, Bishwa Prakash Sharma is contesting the election for the post of general secretaries from Prakash Man Singh panel and Dr Raja Ram Karki is in the fray for the post from Bimalendra Nidhi panel, respectively.

Sher Bahadur Deuba has been elected as the president and Purna Bahadur Khadka and Dhan Raj Gurung have been elected as vice presidents of the NC.
