Main opposition leader Oli warns govt not to provoke people

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has warned the government not to provoke and tease the people by suppressing peaceful agitations.

Addressing a district-level training program in Kathmandu Thursday, Oli said the government had cracked down on peaceful protests.

Claiming that during his time in power not even batons were allowed in peaceful protests, the UML chair accused the incumbent government of suppressing and restricting freedoms of peaceful gathering and speech.

Oli said, “I want to warn the government not to provoke the people. People want to stay within the boundaries of a peaceful movement, don’t force them to revolt.”
