Madhav Nepal no longer needed in UML, everybody else may return: Chair Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairperson KP Oli has said Madhav Kumar Nepal is no longer needed in the party as he had only created factions in the party but extended invitations to others expect leader Nepal.

At a Kathmandu district level training program for cadres in Nepal Academy Thursday, UML Vice-Chair Asta Laxmi Shakya, who is also chief minister of Bagmati Province, urged Madhav Nepal to return to the UML. She also gave suggestions to the leadership for strengthening the party.

Speaking after Shakya, Chairman Oli said that Madhav Nepal need not be in the party. He said, “Of course, some friends still say, ‘Comrade Madhav, you need to return to UML.’ But why is he needed back in the UML? To split the party again?” the UML chair wondered. “I don’t understand what is the situation of Madhav Nepal.”

He said that Madhav Nepal had only formed factions in the party and had not favored the UML-led government in the last three and a half years.

Referring to leaders who worked with Madhav Nepal for a long time but had decided to remain in the UML instead of joining Nepal-led new party, Oli said that they should forget about the closeness they shared with leader Nepal in the past. “These days, a incompetent government is ruling the country. Madhav Nepal supported this government with his relentless attacks against the UML,” he said.

He has also called on all, except Madhav Nepal, to return to the party.

UML Chair Oli added, “I don’t have anything to say to Madhav Nepal who is going on a pilgrimage after setting fire to home- the party.”

He stressed all party leaders to return to the party having read between the lines amid leader Nepal’s deception.
