KATHMANDU: The Food Management and Trade Company run by the government has decided to operate fair price shops in various 39 districts in view of the coming festivals. The shop with fair prices would be run from Friday.
The fair price shops are operated in the run up to major festivals as Dashain, Tihar and Chhath for some years.
Information Officer at Company, Sharmila Neupane, shared that the Company has planned to give discount on the prices of rice, pulse, beaten rice, flour, cooking oil, meat and Karnali beans. The Kathmandu Valley alone will have the outlets at Thapathali, Nakkhu, Lagankhel and Suryabinayak.
Similarly, Banepa, Biratnagar, Birtamod, Hetauda, Narayangadh, Bhairahawa, Butwal, Nepalgunj, Pokhara, Dang, Surkhet, Dhangadhi, Mahendranagar, and Dadeldhura, among others are managing the outlet with fair price goods.
The Food Management and Trade Company however said there was slim possibility of the import of chyangra, Himalayan goats. The Company did not sell the Himalayan goats in view of the COVID-19 last year too.
Similarly, Salt Trading Corporation and Dairy Development Corporation have also said they would run the fair price shops from their sale points. Earlier, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply had directed the above three companies to run the fair price shops by avoiding crowds. The fair price shops would run till November 10.
