Govt to mobilize all state machineries for relief and rescue operations

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to effectively carry out rescue and relief operations by mobilizing all the state machineries.

A meeting of the disaster management executive committee under the Home Ministry held on Wednesday morning  took a decision to this effect.

Chief of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) Anil Pokharel said the meeting endorsed the work-plan to be executed in the period of 100 days from the day the monsoon started.

“Today’s meeting has endorsed the anti-disaster work-plan prepared at the joint efforts of the Ministry, NGO, INGO, donor institutes,” said Pokharel.

Following the review of the flood-hit areas in Sindhupalchowk and Manang, the meeting also decided to immediately search the missing people and provide relief materials including food-stuffs and tents to the flood-hit victims.

The rescue team had rescued two people stranded in the hotel submerged in the Melamchi Bazaar by floodwaters this morning.
