4 international flights diverted to India as stormy weather affects services at TIA



KATHMANDU: Stormy weather has affected flights at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), Kathmandu, on Friday.

Heavy rain with hailstorm hit the Kathmandu Valley this afternoon, bringing respite from the smog in the Valley, however, unfavorable weather has hampered domestic and international air services.

According to TIA office, four international flights bound to Kathmandu were diverted to India today.

Planes of Himalayan Airlines and Air India were instructed to head to Banaras, India.  Likewise, a Qatar Airways flight coming from Doha was diverted to Kolkata and one Air India flight was asked to return to New Delhi.

In the national skies, seven flights were diverted. Of the seven, six were of Buddha Air and one of Yeti Air.
