KATHMANDU: The Nepal-Khanal faction of the ruling CPN-UML has said over 2,000 leaders and cadres will participate in the national cadres’ gathering to be held on Wednesday and Thursday.

Organizing a press meet at Sanepa in Lalitpur on Tuesday, Publicity Department Chief of the party Yogesh Bhattarai said the Oli faction is hesitating to run the party in accordance with the verdict of the Supreme Court (SC).

Bhattarai further said the preparations have been completed and the Central Committee (CC) meeting will submit a concept paper on the current interparty dispute and its possible ways out in the gathering.

Speaking at the press conference, Central Committee member Bishnu Rijal said the Oli faction tried to push the party on the verge of conflict by nominating 23 former Maoist Center leaders including Home Minister Ram Bahaddur Thapa to the central committee of the CPN-UML.

Rijal said, with the SC’s verdict, the entire party was restored, not only some leaders, urging all the party rank file to stand united to make the party popular, democratic and revolutionary once again.
