Decision to dissolve the HoR is being justified: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli on Tuesday took time to justify his move to dissolve the House of Representatives (HoR) asserting that it is being justified now.

“In fact, the current political events have justified that my move to dissolve the HoR was right,” he said, referring to the “upheavals” created by some elements to fulfill their vested interests in the parliament.

He also accused Speaker Agni Sapkota of failing to fulfill his responsibilities toward the implementation of the constitution while speaking at a tea reception organized at his official residence in Baluwatar Tuesday..

“I am shocked at the way the Speaker failed to maintain his position. Was he, too, guided by an ill-intention through a setting? he queried.

Prime Minister Oli also came down heavily on the disgruntled faction of his party led by Madhav Kumar Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal for trying to delude the party cadres in the name of the national assembly.

“Mind you, we will not tolerate any activities that are against party unity. This is too much. Let me draw your attention toward the legal provisions if you crossed the limits,” PM Oli warned.

He also warned of taking stern action against any leaders and cadres if they attended what he called the “so-called” cadres meeting on Wednesday.

“I will not tolerate it,” he warned, adding, “Action would be taken as per the party statute.”

PM Oli also went on to criticize the Madhav Nepal faction for heading toward anarchism saying, “I have repeatedly said that I will not surrender before their ill-intention.”

Stating that a new state of affairs has emerged in politics, he said, “We had initiated the unification process to ensure stability. However, some people meddled the entire episode merely to fulfill their vested interests.”

He also ridiculed the parties, who took to the streets to reinstate the HoR, for boycotting and obstructing the House meetings.

“I can’t understand what they are trying to prove,” he said raising a question to the motive behind their demand of House reinstatement.

Referring to the absence of the Madhav Nepal faction in the tea reception, PM Oli said, “I don’t see some face here. If you do not want to come to the reception organized by the party Chairman and the Prime Minister, whose tea party would you prefer to go?”
