COVID vaccination drive to be launched at community level from March 8



KATHMANDU: The government is preparing to launch a coronavirus vaccination drive at the community level and has expedited the procurement process for that.

Chief Specialist at the Ministry of Health and Population Dr. Roshan Pokharel said that preparations are being made to launch a vaccination campaign at the community level from March 8.

“We are preparing to launch a vaccination campaign for the general public soon. Two million vaccines are in the process of arriving,” said Pokharel.

The government has given second priority to citizens between the ages of 55 and 74 years and those with a chronic illness in the age group of 40 to 54 years.

Similarly, the third priority is the age group of 40 to 54 years and people in the age group of 15 to 39 years.

The government has been vaccinating those in the second priority of the first phase campaign since Sunday. The Health Ministry plans to vaccinate about 300,000 people in the campaign.
